Meet Peter Friedfeld

Peter Friedfeld (pronounced Freed-Feld), at the youthful age of 55, found himself unexpectedly diagnosed with Diabetes on Valentine’s Day, an event that significantly shaped his journey towards self-compassion.

Initially misdiagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, it took eighteen months for Peter to receive the correct diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes. This challenging period saw him developing a deep engagement with yoga, which played a pivotal role in healing both his mind and body.

During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, while under home confinement, Peter further embarked on a transformative journey with mindfulness and meditation practices. These disciplines have been instrumental in his personal growth and well-being.

In addition to his role as executive director and co-founder of the DiabetesSangha, Peter enjoys being a biking team lead for the DRI, and most recently as executive consultant in the ground breaking film, Pay or Die about the insulin crisis in America.

Passionate about community connection, Peter is dedicated to giving back, sharing his experiences, and learning from the relationships he builds within the community.
