I generally enjoy your podcast and when I leave comments anywhere, I try to be positive However this particular episode was so slanted and full of misleading info I just have to call BS.
I have no issue, with someone being passionate about a position they believe in. I do have a problem with extremism. Your guest, Dr. Ken Berry is an extremist.
I have no doubt that keto works great for some. Going completely vegetarian works great for others, and they live just as healthy and productive lives.
For most people in general , diabetics, in particular, there’s a happy medium. As amateur of fact statistically, the healthiest people seem to be living in the Mediterranean. Their diet includes, fats, meat, fruit and vegetables. (I’m not promoting the Mediterranean Diet here).
What’s key to all these diets is really limiting processed and junk food.
Almost everything he said was questionable and or objectionable. I mean come on; give up carbs or give up years of life? This is my way or the highway thinking. There’s no credible evidence that support this.
All nutrients found in plants can be found in meat? Not true. I refer you to an excellent rebuttal by Dr.Gil Carvalho; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjL8wv2CXM4
His most objectionable statement came at the end when to make a point abbot T1D longevity he pointed out he had no T1 patients 50 in his practice, insinuating that it’s the ‘American diet killing us all off. Tens of thousands of us or more are still alive, proving his claims laughable. Many in great health. It’s certainly not what he was inferring. I can think of a couple of reasons though, why he has no elderly T1s. Either his patients die from coronary disease before they hit 50 from following his advice or most have sense enough to be rightfully skeptical of him and avoid him.
